Dr. Matthew Stone opens chiropractic office in BurrillvilleBURRILLVILLE - Dr. Matthew Stone, who grew up in the area, has returned home to open a chiropractic practice, although he came to this by a circuitous route. Previously, he had been a civil engineer, graduating from Norwich University, a military college in Vermont, on an Army scholarship. But while playing ice hockey - something he did since he was a kid growing up in Burrillville - he was hit accidentally in the head with a hockey puck. Painkillers and other medication didn't help. He could no longer turn his head. A friend, who later became his wife, told him he should see a chiropractor. "The chiropractor helped me tremendously," said Stone. The incident was a turning point in his life. He decided that rather than build roads and bridges, he'd like to be a chiropractor. Today, Stone offers chiropractic and wellness care for children and adults, from infants to seniors. "I really specialize in non-surgical spinal biomechanics," he said. His office, Glocester Family Chiropractic, is located at 712 Putnam Pike, Unit No. 4, a stone's throw from Kitchen 44, a landmark that's familiar to most folks in the area. To reach the practice, call 568-2200.
