CSRI Announces New Slate of Officers and ByLaw Changes
A new slate of officers was voted on and approved by the membership at the annual meeting held on June 9.

Bylaw Changes
A quorum of members passed two amendments to the bylaws; First, the membership voted to change the term of dues from the existing schedule of June 1 through December 31 to a new schedule of June 1 through May 31. This change would allow members to pay their membership dues via credit card, in monthly or quarterly installments, throughout the entire fiscal year.
Second, the membership voted to change the dues structure for board members from no dues, to 50% dues obligation.
More details and the specific bylaw language will be forthcoming and available on the CSRI website.

H1N1 Survey Reminder
Dear Healthcare Provider, Thank you very much if you have already completed one or both of the H1N1 flu surveys you received from the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH). If you have not completed one or both surveys, it is not too late to contribute to the evaluation of HEALTH’s response to H1N1 flu. To take the first survey that HEALTH sent you, please click the link below. This survey focuses on communications issues and was originally sent to you on May 11, 2010. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HealthcareProviders To take the second survey that HEALTH sent you, please click the link below. This survey focuses on vaccine administration and was originally sent to you on May 24, 2010. https://pph-illume.chcr.brown.edu/Collector/Survey.ashx?Name=DOH_Alexander We have already gathered some valuable feedback that could have only come from people like you who were “on the front lines” throughout this public health crisis. However, only about 10% of the Rhode Island healthcare providers that we contacted have responded. These surveys are anonymous. While these surveys are also voluntary, please remember that your responses will help us better support you in both emergency and non-emergency situations. David R. Gifford, MD, MPH Director of Health

Hello Doctors, I enjoyed seeing our CSRI friends, and meeting new ones during the recent spring convention. At Erochia, we know some of your concerns include how to care for, increase, and retain your patient base. Truth and Transparency in Healthcare Act of 2010
BOG and Legislative Commission: Late yesterday afternoon, Representative John Sullivan (R-OK), along with Representative David Scott (D-GA), introduced the Truth and Transparency in Healthcare Act of 2010 (HR 5295). Below, you will find links to the latest chatter surrounding the legislation … including a newly formed coalition of physician providers supporting the legislation. While the legislation does include physicians this time, all of the rhetoric goes directly back to misrepresentation of credentials (i.e., I’m a Doctor … and you’re not) which we all know there are statutes already on the books governing such. As you recall, similar efforts were developed, and subsequently failed, in the last two congresses. As before, we will fight this aggressively, especially with our non-MD PARCA coalition and make sure this again does not see the light of day. I have also looped in Communications so that we can put out a release denouncing this latest attempt by organized medicine to disparage the profession. We will also engage in a grassroots effort to ensure doctors and patients let their representatives know that this type of rhetoric can not be tolerated. Please let me know if you have any questions.
